BirrCheck is an English and Amharic guide for people in Ethiopia who still want to know which offshore cashiers list Telebirr, CBE Birr or M-Pesa after the sports-betting licences were revoked. We write the pages. We are not a betting house.
The numbers live on the home page, the list and the payments page. This page is who we are, how a name gets on that list, and what a cashier button means.
Who we are
The logo says BirrCheck in English and ብር ማጣሪያ in Amharic. Same site, two languages. Switch in the header. The Amharic About is ስለ ብር ማጣሪያ.
There is no BirrCheck account, no BirrCheck wallet, and no window in Addis Ababa that takes your Telebirr PIN. We do not print a street address or a support inbox here. If a message asks you to email “BirrCheck support” and that address is not on this page, it is not us.
We check whether an operator still names Ethiopian wallets in public, or on a cashier we have seen. We keep the licence facts on the ELS betting licence ban page and the 18+ stop on responsible play.
What this site is not
- Not the Ethiopian Lottery Service. We do not issue licences and we do not revoke them.
- Not a bookmaker. We do not take bets or hold a betting balance.
- Not a bank, not CBE, not Ethio Telecom, not a Telebirr agent, not M-Pesa.
- Not a payment company. Money is never sent on these pages.
- Not a law firm. The terms of use are how to read this site, not the operator’s terms.
If someone forwards this site as “the licensed Ethiopian book,” that is wrong. After 15 December 2025 (Tahsass 06, 2018 E.C.) ELS revoked every sports-betting licence it had issued. Addis Insight reported the class revocation the same day. iGaming Afrika published the ELS notice text (source line: Ethiopian Lottery Service). Online books, agents, shops, and “any other manner” were named together. New bets were to stop. Deposit gateways were to stop. Banks and payment firms were told to block or suspend betting money.
A Curacao paper is not that ELS paper. An old National Lottery Administration number in a footer is not that ELS paper. A wallet is not that ELS paper. Telebirr is an Ethio Telecom product. It is a wallet. It is not a sports-betting licence.
How we check cashiers
A logo is not a cashier. A Facebook page for a closed kiosk is not a cashier. A YouTube thumbnail that says “best betting ethiopia” is not a cashier. A review blog that copies “Telebirr 5 ETB” is not a cashier.
A name stays on our list when we can point to something you can open:
- a public Ethiopia payment guide on the operator’s own site, or
- public pages on the operator’s own site that name Telebirr, CBE Birr / CBEBirr, or M-Pesa, or
- a cashier we checked on 26 August 2026, when the operator has no public Ethiopia deposit guide we can link.
On 26 August 2026 we checked methods and minimums for 1xBet, Melbet, BetWinner, Linebet, 888Starz, Mostbet and Paripesa. Those cards now show Telebirr, CBE Birr and M-Pesa with a cashier button. Megapari and Telebet have buttons too. Megapari’s public Ethiopia guides and Telebet’s public pages stay linked. We still do not invent a way around a blocked wallet. We still do not invent a welcome bonus.
We keep an empty place for a licensed local sportsbook. There is none to put there. A National Lottery product that takes Telebirr is still lottery. It does not fill that gap.
We do not invent free spins or wagering. If Telebirr, CBE Birr, M-Pesa or a bank refuses a betting merchant, that is a stop. How to bet in Ethiopia stops there too. Telebet’s public page still does not print a minimum; that cell stays blank even with a button.
Wallet floors and bank floors stay separate. If a public guide splits CBE Birr (wallet) from Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (bank), we keep the split.

One of those partners is Glory Casino. On 26 August 2026 its cashier listed Telebirr, CBE Birr and M-Pesa from 100 ETB. The operator About page names Bettor IO N.V., Curacao 365/JAZ. Curacao is offshore. It is not ELS.
Megapari, Telebet, 1xBet, Melbet, BetWinner, Linebet, 888Starz, Mostbet and Paripesa also have cashier buttons. A button is not an Ethiopian licence. A wallet can still refuse the merchant.
What you will not find here
We do not ask you to paste a Telebirr PIN, a CBE password or an ID scan into a BirrCheck form. If an offshore cashier asks for identity checks, that is their process. What we collect, and what we do not, is on Privacy.
